CORY BOOKER

Senator Cory Booker brings a relentless, positive enthusiasm to politics. He’s a fighter for Democratic principles who will always look for avenues of harmony and coalition building.

In the Senate, Booker has built an optimistic brand of politics that fights fervently for what he believes in while not holding hate for those he disagrees with and implores others to do the same.

“I think one of the best ways to spread good is not by condemning bad. Don’t tell me your activism is measured by how much you hate the other side. That’s not activism.”

His first foray into politics involved taking down “machine style politics” in Newark, New Jersey and although he was unsuccessful in his initial run for Mayor, on his second attempt, Booker won.

His legislative accomplishments are rooted in action-oriented activism. Sen. Booker has been a leading voice on the Judiciary Committee, pushing back time and time again on the judicial nominations made by Donald Trump.

He also worked to move forward criminal justice reforms with 2018’s First Step Act which makes it easier for formerly incarcerated people to get back to work and reintegrate into their community.

By authoring key legislation on the defining issues of our time, we can thank Senator Booker for making progress on marriage equality, reproductive rights, and curbing gun violence.
