WES MOORE

In 2010, Governor Wes Moore released his critically acclaimed account of two men with the same name, in the same city, with radically different life outcomes.

While he studied as a Rhodes Scholar and served as an Army captain, the other Wes Moore was serving life without parole for shooting a police officer.

According to Governor Moore, that disparity stems from the government’s failure to invest in being a force for good. Despite current mismanagement, he believes the government has more than enough capital to fund public services to close economic and educational gaps, giving all Wes Moore’s an equal opportunity to go after their dreams.

“He’s a politician cast in the Obama mode, and not just because he’s African American. It’s because of his style of politics—a very aspirational, sort of affirming style, which is almost archaic in our hyperpartisan moment.”
Joy Reid

In Moore’s view, the Democratic Party’s success hinges on reinvigorating patriotism and re-engaging Americans who feel left behind, especially our families.

A crowning achievement of his time in office is the Family Prosperity Act, which puts money directly back into the pockets of more than 400,000 middle-to-low income Marylanders.

Governor Moore’s unique position, as a political outsider and veteran, allows him to shine as a beacon of hope and inspiration in a political landscape hungry for positive change.
